Verdict on case concerning distribution of "Sil" clothes to be announced today

The verdict on the "sil" clothes case filed by the Auditor General against former Presidential Secretary Lalith Weeratunga and former Telecommunications Regulatory Commission Director General, Anuusha Pelpita is scheduled to be revealed today.

The verdict is due to be announced before Colombo High Court Judge Gihan Kulatunga.

The Attorney General has instituted legal action charging that during the last presidential election, government funds were used to fund the distribution of "sil" garments for devotees at Buddhist temples island-wide, at a cost of Rs. 600 million, that belonged to the Telecommunications Regulatory Commission.
