The Colombo High Court has once again issued summons ordering President Maithripala Sirisena and Prime Minister Ranil Wickremesinghe’s appearance before the Court.

The case filed against the General Secretary of the United National Party (UNP), Tissa Attanayake who has been accused of allegedly fabricating documents was once again taken up for consideration by the Court today (17).

Maithripala Sirisena who ran for President as the common candidate of the UNP, and Ranil Wickremesinghe, the then Opposition Leader have been named as the 1st and 2nd respondents of the case.

When President Sirisena and Prime Minister Wickremesinghe were previously issued summons to appear before the court, the counsels appearing on behalf of the respondents had stated that the respondents had been unable to do so, citing official reasons. The counsels had therefore requested for a later date facilitating the respondents’ appearance before the High Court.

After considering the request made by the senior attorney-at-law appearing on behalf of the Attorney-General, the Colombo High Court Judge, Nissanka Nanayakkara today (17) reissued summons to the two respondents.

The hearing has been scheduled to take place from December 04 till December 12.
