Report Arasu in Other Countries

Donning a pink Korean dress and flashing a wide (read creepy) smile, television presenter Ri Chun Hee delivered the news of Pyongyang's sixth nuclear test with utmost fervor.

Ri announced on the North Korean state television on Sunday the hydrogen bomb test was "a perfect success!" and a key step in "completing the state nuclear force."

Known to many simply as the “pink lady” with her trademark usual Korean outfit and choice of color, the Korean Central Television (KCTV) Broadcaster is the North Korea's Official TV Announcer of key political developments in the Country.

According to a Guardian report, Ri was born in 1943 into a poor family in Dongcheng. Now she is 74-years-old, Ri was mentored by the North Korean Government because she came from a poor family which is considered a sign of trustworthiness in North Korea.

She studied performance art at Pyongyang University of Theatre. She joined KCTV in 1971 and was promoted to function as the Chief News Presenter in just three years later.

Her power-packed news anchoring skills have won the admiration of the regime's leader Kim Jong Un.

According to a Reuters report, Ri’s rise to fame was guided by the North Korea founder Kim-Il-sung, who nurtured her “with warm love and faith.”

“As these days passed, her voice grew to have an appeal so that whenever she would speak on the news, viewers were touched.”

“Whn Ri announced reports and statements, enemies would tremble in fear,” it added.

And quite obviously the broadcaster’s recent appearances fetched a lot of online attention:
