Sridevi passed away in grief, says her uncle Venugopal Reddy
Who had ever imagined that a destination wedding and a leisure trip later, would turn into a big tragedy for Boney Kapoor and family, Bollywood and the nation. Who knew, that was the last trip of actress Sridevi’s life.
Yes, when the news came in on the February 24 night, that Sridevi was no more, the nation was left in grief and shock. While initial reports stated the reason for her demise, as cardiac arrest, later reports stated that the actress passed away due to accidental drowning in Dubai.
And while her mortal remains were laid to rest on February 28, her loss will always be an unbearable one, many speculations about her demise did rounds.
And now Sridevi’s uncle Venugopal Reddy has revealed some details from the late actress’s personal life in an interview to a Telugu news channel, where he said that the actress passed away in grief, that there was a lot of pain in her heart, yet she wore a smile for the world.
In the interview, he said, Sridevi was in grief due to Boney Kapoor’s financial and that they were going through a financial crunch. He further revealed that they had to sell few of Sridevi’s properties to clear certain debts.
“What we knew was Boney Kapoor lost a lot of money in few films and they sold Sridevi's properties to make up for the losses. And Sridevi always had that pain in her heart. Sridevi lived in pain and passed away with a lot of pain in her heart.
She was not at peace. She wore a smile on her face for the world but she went through a lot inside her," Venugopal Reddy told iDream News Channel.
He further added that “Boney produced a film which never saw the light of the day, and they were financially going through a tough phase. Sridevi sold her properties and cleared those debts to get life back on track. And that was the main reason why Sridevi got back to acting in films.
Sridevi is now succeeded by husband Boney, and daughters Janhvi and Khushi Kapoor. While her ashes were immersed in Rameswaram and Haridwar, yesterday her family left for the late actress’s prayer meet in Chennai.
Sridevi will be posthumously seen in Aanand L Rai's Zero starring Shah Rukh Khan, Katrina Kaif and Anushka Sharma.
