Most of us got our introduction to Alicia Vikander when she received the Oscar for Best Supporting Actress for her role in The Danish Girl. When she went on stage, she wasn’t whom we pictured to play Lara Croft. Then again, we never quite imagined Angelina Jolie in that role either.

So, here we are, almost two years since Alicia Vikander’s big win, and the first trailer is out. It showcases her Lara in all sorts of stunts – jumping into the sea, running in the jungle and of course avoiding death traps in ancient tombs. And thanks to Lara’s outfit – a single and cargo pants – Alicia Vikander gets to show off her biceps!

Tomb Raider tells the origin story of Lara, whose adventure begins when she goes in search of her dad’s last known destination: a fabled tomb on a mythical island. Naturally, this turns out of being a perilous journey. Luckily she is armed with a sharp mind, blind faith, and an inherently stubborn spirit.

In an interview with Entertainment Weekly, the 29-year-old actress Alicia Vikander said: “She has all the fierce, tough, curious, intelligent traits, but we’ve stripped away all of her experience. She hasn’t gone on an adventure just yet… This is the beginning.”

Directed by Roar Uthaug, the film 'Tomb Raider-2018' also stars Dominic West, Walton Goggins, Daniel Wu and Kristin Scott Thomas.

Tomb Raider has been scheduled to open in Malaysia on the 15th of March 2018.
